RECYCLER virus can be removed with autorun eater

A new virus found on my brother’s laptop last day. It never allows him to double click and open any of the drives on “My Computer”. Whenever double clicked on any  drives , it tries to run a autorun.inf file and an error message shows up as below.
recycler virus output autorun eater

This was quite a nuisance and even I feel like it slows down the laptop and many other applications started working little weird. So we just googled it and found a interesting utility which removes suspicious autorun files from the system. This is easy to download and install. Its called AUTORUN EATER, which can be downloaded from download.com or click here. It sits in your task bar and scans for any suspicious autorun.inf file.

Autorun Eater can:

  • Detect and remove suspicious ‘autorun.inf’ files in real-time
  • ‘Refresh’ your drive to its original state
  • Prevent accidental execution of malicious files by ‘autorun.inf’ files
  • Help you fix 3 common registry changes made by malicious files
  • Save you hours of headache…

How does autorun eater determines a autorun.inf is malicious or not ?
Autorun Eater determines whether an ‘autorun.inf’ file is malicious or not by checking for certain strings in the file. You are then warned and asked for further action if ‘autorun.inf’ files containing those strings are detected. This also applies if the ‘autorun.inf’ has not been previously ignored
