What is Alexa?

Alexa is a subsidiary company of Amazon.com , which provide ranking for the websites and blogs considering a number of factors.

How to analysis data from Alexa.

1. Traffic Stats
This is the mostly used session in Alexa , it contains traffic rank, reach , pageviews , page view per user, bounce rate , time on site, search .Each term will be discussed in detail below.

2. Contact Info
You can find the registered owner of the website from here, this may help to find the owner even if it is not mentioned in the original site.  Data is pulled out from domain registrar database.

3. Keywords
This is one of the interesting info which we can pull out from Alexa. If you need to find which are the mostly used keywords which attract users to that particular site , you need to go here.

4. Traffic Rank
As I mentioned above Alexa is well known for its ranking, even though it is a subject for debate, Alexa rank is well acknowledged in Internet world. They deploy various factors to determine your rank.They includes, number of page views, bounce rate, time on site , reach, frequency of posts and many more.. For ranking they mainly depend on user activity on Alexa toolbar,which is one of the biggest drawback. Also I guess they are not considering total number of visitors per day for their ranking system, as a result many website which have a greater daily readers are having lower Alexa rank.

5. Pageviews
This is the percentage of global pageviews on this particular website. It can be considered as the percentage of total internet presence to this perticular website. any thing above 0.000010% is considered as average

6.PageView per user
Another matrix to find the relevancy of content. IF you have more page views per user then it is considered that you have right targeted audience. Anything above 2 is considered as average and above 4 is great.

7.Bounce Rate
If your reader exit the website after reading the landing page without clicking any other pages ,then you have a 100 % bounce rate , which is considered as bad.anything above 75% is considered as average

8. Time on site
This is the average time spend by the user on your website. Any thing above 2 min is considered as OK

9. Search %
Users coming from search engine is counted here. Search engine readers are always considered  as genuine readers and probability to stay on your website for long is more. 30 % and above is good.

Alexa also give separate ranking in country wise which can also be used to see the presence of one website in that particular country.
