What is Google squared, A review , explained in simple english

Yet another initiative from Mr G of internet – it is Google squared. When I heard this name for the first time, I was wondering,what again Google is going to do new with internet search. This time it is going wild and wide. Google is trying to bring the flat data floating around in the internet to a structured manner. If they are able to make this out, I am sure this could be another big thing on internet. To get the feel of it, I just tried searching “LCD tv” on google.com/squared. It just presented data in a tabular format with manufacturer name , model , description, and lot more. Lets take an example which could be of practical use, If I am planning to by an air conditioner, currently I need to search the internet, collect details after going to each website and then format according to my requirement and  analysis it. But once Google squared is ready, I only need to key-in the requirement, it will display all the details like model name , manufacturer , dealer name , rates, features. We just need to import it into an excel and decide which one to buy. This is just an example. Like this there are tons of practical use which I can think of. Don’t you ? If so please share.
Anyways even an attempt of normalizing internet data is a great effort…
