mozilaI had a weird problem after upgrading my Firefox to 3.5 , mouse over was not working , instead just a small rectangle appears below the mouse cursor , It was too irritating and even think about ways to downgrade to my earlier version.

After a little search I could find the root cause of this , culprit was none other than google toolbar for Firefox. Now I just disabled my google toolbar add-on from tools –> add-ons and waiting for an update for new toolbar which may fix this issue.

If any one of you face similar issue try loading Firefox in safe mode , if it works fine then surely  it should be some problem with addons

You can start Firefox on safe mode by running this command (windows)

Start –> run –> firefox -safe-mode
or
Start –> Programs –>  Mozilla Firefox –> Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode)

Check what version of the google toolbar you have.
I just manually upgraded my toolbar and it works again

The latest version is Google Toolbar 5.0.20090324
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6249#reviews

For some reason it does not get picked up for by update checks from firefox

I love my addon toolbar as it allows me to pop results into new tab (ctrl+enter) or a new window (shift+enter)

When upgrading to Firefox 3.5, my Google Toolbar version was 5.0.20090122Wb2. It gave the annoying mouse over problem in Firefox 3.5. And worse still, I cannot use the About button in the toolbar. Neither was Options button. So I got the version number from Tools-Addons-Extensions in Firefox.

After reading this article, I went to Google Toolbar’s home page http://tools.google.com/firefox/toolbar/FT5/intl/en/index.html
and re-download & install the available version. Upon successful installation, it restarted Firefox. The Google Toolbar version is now 5.0.20090805W.

And the mouse over works perfectly.
