How to convert docx to doc without Microsoft Word 2007

One of my friend was asking about the tool to convert docx to doc , today morning he got a document with docx extension from his client.
If you are surprised to see a docx file, it is nothing but a new document format from Microsoft word 2007. Problem here is this format is not supported by older versions of Microsoft Word. Microsoft provides a compatibility tool,once you install this, you can use your previous version of Word itself to open docx format files.
