7 Power saving tips for your laptops and desktop computers

battery setGoing green is the new trend, Power is not in copiousness so we have to use it wisely and it help you to to cut short your utility bill.Here are the few tips to save power on your laptop or desktop computer.These tips also help you to squeeze your battery to its max if you are running out of power.
Charge and Discharge your battery fully
When ever you charge your battery try to charge it fully. Never plug out the charger in the middle. It helps to increase the life of your battery and efficiency. Once in a while try to discharge your battery completely, again it helps to increase the battery efficiency.

Lower the brightness
Try to adjust the brightness to a lower level , it is good to your eyes as well as battery. More brighter is equal to more power consumption.

Switch off Monitor/ Auto power off
Switch off your monitor when ever you are not working, It saves atleast 40 % power. Set auto off for your monitor after a certain time.

Screen savers
Use lighter screen saver which helps you in saving power usage. Brighter graphics could consume more power.

Less USB devices
If you are running on battery , try to avoid using any USB devices.

CD / DVD
CD and DVD are the other power consumers on your system. If you are running on battery try to minimize the usage of these. It help to save the power for more time.

WI-FI and Radio devices
Control the usage of these to save power for longer time.WI-FI require more power and it can drain your battery faster.

    Simple but very useful tips. In fact they become very useful when we face so many power cuts sometimes in cities as well, and the condition of towns is more miserable. But India is growing in the fields of computers and most of the people are getting educated (I don’t know to what level, but they are very desperate to have a laptop!). So it is very necessary that they know what are the cautions to avoid the wastage of power.
    Infact the point about screensavers was new for me, I never thought about that in the way :) . Thanks for sharing.

    Looks quite natural. But these are really good. I liked two domains that you have quoted here.
    1. USB avoiding
    2. Brightness of the screen.
    These days I found some discussions like this really useful to solve some serious problems
