What is Good and Bad about Windows 7 – launch review

microsoftWorld’s largest software makers launched the latest Windows 7 on 22nd Oct, 2009. Windows 7 was much awaited and well discussed on internet for last couple of months. It hosts tools for multimedia applications for business and retail customers.Realizing the facts which leads to the failure of Windows vista which was the earlier release by Microsoft, Windows 7 is promising significant improvement in productivity levels, enhanced security, reduced risk and manageability costs.HCL, Acer and Hewleter packard have started shipping Windows 7 pre loaded PCs and Laptops from Thursday.

Good about Windows 7

  • Windows 7 offer faster and more responsive performance
  • User friendly GUI
  • Fun and work
  • New hardware support
  • One click driver installation
  • Enhanced security
  • Ability to customize more

Bad about Windows 7

  • Hardware requirements are too high for a regular home user (it require 1 G  memory and 1 ghz processor more the better)
  • Upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 is not clean
  • Insane matrix of flavors (Home,Premium,Professionla,Enterprise,Ultimate) each has its own set of features and each in 32 and 64 bit flavours.
  • No photo editing, video editing , calander, address book, chat, email programs by default. (everything costs extra )

    Microsoft learned a lot of lessons from Vista — among them, that too many SKUs with too few justifications created customer confusion.
    Microsoft is putting the bulk of its marketing dollars and muscle behind just two of the Windows 7 SKUs: Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional.
