What is google sandbox and what to do during sand box period

November 2nd, 2009 by Giridhar | Posted under Blogging Tips.

sand clockGoogle sand box is nothing but a probation period for your newly created website or blog. During this period your posts or article may not be listed on Google organic search result pages (SERP). Google won’t give weightage for those website for a period of time. During this period Google would be monitoring your website for its activities and pattern of posting and analysis whether it is a genuine website or not. Many webmasters are disappointed during this period because even though they may have created a wonderful website with all keywords in place the site may not be listed for proper keywords on Google search. But it is important to know about the sand box effect and work towards website improvement during this period and wait for the sand box period to get over which may be from one month to six months. If you target for keywords which are having more competition then your waiting period may be higher. This could be considered as a policy of Google to fight spam websites.

Banned vs Sand box

Most important here is to identify whether your website or blog is on a Google sand box or banned by Google. It is pretty easy to identify, for this you need to search your domain name as below
“site: example site:dothealthclub.com”, if the count here is increasing as and when you post a new article then you can be sure that your websites are getting indexed and you just need to wait to get out of Google sandbox.

What to do when you are on sand box

There are a lot of things you can do when your website is on Google sandbox
1. Try to add valuable posts or article on your website
2. Try to build links organically.
3. Try to promote website or blog through social networking sites
4. Try to harden website security
5. Try out different plugins and bring the website to a stable state
6. Finalize the layout and categories

So get ready for a better exposure after your sand box period.

I have a blog which is currently under sand box

It is bad for new publishers but great for old publishers which will face less competition.

This is a very good post for new website developers so that they can know why their post do not get indexed in google.

    Sandesh,
A small correction here , posts will get indexed in google even if you are on sandbox , but it will not get displayed during the regular search.
If sites are not getting indexed then probably the site may have banned in google.

    Thanks

I never see your site listed on google on my initial investigation. may be I am wrong , are you getting visitors from google ? if so you are not sandboxed because you have a less competition niche , or you are lucky ..

  6. As a Newbie, I am always searching online for articles that can help me. Thank you

Great looking site! Maybe you should use ads from Prosperent network. They pay based on sales not a clicks!!! That means way better money than adsense or any PPC:) If you are interested send me an email. I will send you invitation code. Cheers.
