Change the location of my documents folder and store files there

My documents is one of the important folder which is avoided by many users, one reason for this could be by default this folder resides in the same drive where your OS is installed, It is of a high risk that your data may be lost if you need a re-install of OS. It is very easy to change the my documents location.
Locate my documents folder right click on it, click on properties and click target and change the target to d:\ or so.

My documents folder is considered by OS as the default location for your documents, music and pictures.
Always plan the directory structure, its better to limit the depth of folders
Backup my documents regularly
