Error 403 Forbidden on wordpress blog and how to recover the blog – wp super cache plugin

December 16th, 2009 by Giridhar | Posted under Blogging Tips.

wordpressLast week, one fine day I woke up and checked my blog statistics and terrified to see visitor count was 80 % reduced, further when I check my website it was displaying a message “Error 403 Forbidden”. By this time my mail box had a message from my hosting provider as below.

I apologize, but I was forced to suspend the script “/home/xxxx/xxxxx/x” as it was causing a high load on the server, and due to the nature of the problem, I forced to take immediate action for the health of the server. Please act immidiatly which helps to greatly reduce the CPU required to run a wordpress blog and can help you to have more traffic while using less CPU. With the way that WordPress is setup, we have only disabled the site, however, you should be able to access the administration section (wp-admin) to preform the installation, or any other modifications that you feel might be necessary.

After a bit of research I could understand that my blog was utilizing abnormal CPU usage and hence the service was blocked temporarily. A bit of Google research leds me to an excellent plugin which is called as ” WP Super Cache ” which creates static pages of the most commonly used pages and those will be served to the readers, which will save the CPU usage. PHP files utilizes more CPU than html. Aslo this plugin tracks for any changes made to the existing pages and update the static html files accordingly. So readers are always presented with the latest content. There are much more configurations which you can play around. This Plugin gives a much better performance to my blog, Now I have an imporoved page load time and a very less CPU utilization.

Benefits of WP Super Cache

  • Better Page load time
  • Better Blog Performance
  • Regenerate static pages for modified PHP files
  • Low CPU Usage
  • Supports WordPress MU

Final verdict
It is worth to try WP Super cache plugin on your WordPress blog

Even i have the same problem with my blogs and using wp super cache.

But when we publish a new post, it’s not visible to the viewers coz of cache.
So, i have to delete cache each and every time when i publish a new post.

At the same time when i delete cache and reload it,
The CPU Usage goes up again resulting in suspension.

Do i have to delete cache when i publish a new post ???
If … NO … , then when will the new post be visible to viewers ???

    Thank you.
