Every one knows that Linux is much secure than Windows and most of the distros are free to use. But still what is holding you back from using Linux. Yes I heard that, It is difficult to install on your local PC or laptop and also you don’t want to throw away your current Operating system. Fair enough, so what about if some one give you preinstalled Linux distribution which can sit on your USB drive and boot from there. No need to change anything on your PC or laptop so it is very safe and straight forward.

Lets take a look how to do this, Ubuntu is a very popular distro which is very secure and free. Tons of applications are packaged with this which can replace your expensive applications. For this you need to download the pre-installed package from unetboot to your local harddisk, connect your USB device , make sure it has enough free space.

Run the package which you downloaded from UNetbootin

Select Ubuntu from the dropdown box as in figure below

Let the process take care of itself, once it is done you will be prompted to restart.

After rebooting you need to make your system boot from USB device, it can be done on your BIOS setup by clicking (usually F1, F2, F12, ESC, or backspace) during the boot process.

This will enable your system to boot from USB device and Ubuntu will be booted from your USB device

Enjoy and experience the power of Linux (Ubuntu)

If you need to switch back to your old Operating system , you just need to remove your USB device and reboot
