Overheating Laptop and netbooks are the most common problems reported by users. Sometimes this issues looks very silly but this is one of the common issues which irritates the user and also over heating can harm your laptop or notebooks and netbooks. Overheating can be a symptom of many other problems in your computer. To avoid or fix overheating problem you need to identify and know what is overheating. When you work on your laptop placing on your lap you might feel a heat which is considered to be normal but if you really feel that it is overheating then it is time to do a checkup.

Why my laptop overheat?

Your laptop might not be getting enough cooling for its internal parts especially the memory and processor. It could be because of your cooling fan not working properly. It might be because the ventilation is not proper or the posture of your laptop prevents free airflow.

How to fix laptop overheating problem

First you need to listen for any abnormal noise from your laptop , some time your cooling fan which is placed on top of the processor is may not be working as expected or it may have totally stopped working. In this case you need to check it and clean the cooling fan from dust and other deposits which are pretty common on many of the netbooks or notebook computers. Once you clean and refix the cooling fan make sure the ventilation are not blocked and there is free air passage. Double check for the smooth working of your cooling fan. If your processors are not cooled properly it may under perform or even get damaged.  You can also invest in some good laptop cooling pads which are not very costly. It will improve your laptop performance.

There are many software which claim to cool your processors but most of them are not proved to be efficient.

  • Adjust the BIOS settings
  • Install temperature alarms
  • Use laptops in level surface like desk
  • Use cooling pads
