New Income tax returns filing forms SUGAM SAHAJ – How to fill – last date IT Returns 2011-12

Income tax department of India had introduced two new simplified and technology enabled Income tax return filing forms – SAHAJ and SUGAM. These forms will be replacing the old SARAL form. In last few years IT department had been putting efforts to simplify the process of Income tax filing. In continuation with these efforts they have made major changes in the process , introduced new e-filing and employed a group of professionals who will be assisting in filling the forms called TRPS.

Who should use and  fill SAHAJ Form
Sahaj is newly designed ITR-1 from which will be replacing the earlier SARAL form. An individual whose total income for the assessment year 2011- 12 includes

  • Income from Salary/ Pension
  • Income from one house property
  • Income from other sources including race horses
  • who has no loss to carry forward

may have to use SAHAJ form.

Who should use and  fill SUGAM Form
SUGAM IT Return form is a simplified Business income tax return form ITR 45. An individual or a Hindu undivided family (HUF)

  • Having income from any business except the business of plying, hiring or leasing goods carriages
  • Total turnover or gross receipts, in the year from such business not exceeding sixty lakh rupees
  • Declaring presumptive income from such business at 8 % of the total turnover or gross receipts.

should be using SUGAM form.

Last date for filing the returns is 31st July , 2011
