Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium officials said Super moon was not an astronomical term, but a creation of the media, There is nothing in astronomy called Supermoon. On speculation that super moons are responsible for natural disasters such as Jananese tsunami, astronomers dismissed the idea as gibberish. But the good news is that now BSNL Haryana had initiated this facility to their customers. Idea mobiles have started aggressively advertising about this up coming feature. This is largest solar eclipse since the annual solar eclipse on January 4, 1992 which lasted for 11 minutes 41 seconds. We cannot see longer eclipse than this till next December 23, 3043 which would be after 1033 years !!! (more…)
